Drones are the cool new thing and it sounds like many will be given as gifts this winter. We think they are cool too but unfortunately most ski areas (Powder Ridge included) cannot allow them on or over our property. The reason is a safety issue. Imagine if you’re skiing down a run and a drone distracts you and you run into something (or someone) or one startles someone on a chairlift and they fall or if one actually hits someone. The safety of our guests is always a prime concern of ours and drones and their operators are an uncontrollable factor that represent an unacceptable risk. We hope drone owners enjoy them and take a lot of great pictures – it just can’t be here at Powder Ridge.
